Market notes
On chartering from Hong Kong
Hong Kong is the most concentrated private-aviation market in Asia, and it runs through a single door. HKBAC has been the franchised business aviation centre at Hong Kong International since 1998 and remains the only FBO on the field, which means the entire private movement flow, from a Citation to a BBJ, is handled by one operation at 10-12 South Perimeter Road. It has been voted best FBO in Asia for 18 consecutive years, which is what happens when a single provider has to absorb an entire market's expectations.
The facility was rebuilt for the current level of demand. A HK$500 million two-phase programme produced a new terminal unveiled on 10 September 2025, with an upgraded one-stop customs, immigration and quarantine hall, VVIP suites, Asia's first 26 m sky canopy, a JetLink wing-to-wing transfer arrangement and a Premier Direct process designed around three-minute boarding. The work roughly doubles handling capacity on a 24,500 sq m site, with the second phase scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2026.
The airport itself imposes no constraints on aircraft choice: three parallel runways of 3,800 m, round-the-clock operation, and 394,730 movements against 60,992,000 passengers in 2025. What it does impose is slot and parking pressure during peak banks, which is the practical reason to fix a Hong Kong departure earlier than you would in a smaller market. HKBAC's three hangars take everything up to a Global 7500, G650 or narrowbody airliner, so hangarage is available, but it is not unlimited.
Route demand splits cleanly. Short Pearl River Delta sectors to Macau, Shenzhen and Zhuhai are light jet work, though mainland landing permits mean the paperwork usually outlasts the flying. Shanghai, Bangkok, Manila and Taipei are midsize territory. Singapore, Tokyo, Seoul and Bali pull the fleet into super-midsize. And then there is the long-range layer that defines the city, with nonstop G650ER and Global 7500 flying to Dubai, London, San Francisco and Sydney, supported by based operators including Metrojet at Hangar 2 and Sino Jet.
