For four executives and a two-hour flight, the biggest cabin is the wrong answer. Here is which light jet actually earns its keep, and why the Phenom 300 has been the best-selling light jet 13 years running.
Four people, three hours, business schedule. That is the archetypal light-jet mission, and it is the mission the industry sells worst. Charter salespeople upgrade you into a super-midsize because the margin is better. Ownership brochures push you toward a Praetor because the depreciation curve is prettier. Neither is what four executives actually need for a 90-minute sector between two second-tier airports.

The one number that decides it
Fleet size, and by extension charter availability. The Phenom 300 wins this outright, and the number comes from GAMA via Embraer's release: the Phenom 300 series was the world's best-selling light jet for the 13th consecutive year and the world's most delivered light jet for the 13th consecutive year, plus the most delivered twin-engine jet for the fifth consecutive year, with 65 aircraft delivered in 2024, more than 830 deliveries worldwide, operations in 40 countries and over 2.5 million flight hours. Embraer has since claimed 14 consecutive years as best-selling light jet. Cumulative airframes: 921 Phenom 300s built as of Q1 2026.
The Learjet 75 Liberty has over 100 delivered, and Bombardier stopped Learjet production in 2021. That makes the Liberty a shrinking charter category. Charter buyers should treat it as a nice option when available, not a plan.
Engines and small print
The Phenom 300E runs two PW535E1 at 3,478 lb thrust each with a maximum cabin altitude of 6,600 ft, single-pilot certified, on the Prodigy Touch flight deck based on Garmin G3000. The Phenom 300 was FAA-certified on 3 December 2009, is single-pilot certified and is 18% composite by structure.
The CJ3+ uses Williams FJ44-3A engines with a 4,478 fpm climb and a 2023 list price of $8,560,000.
The Learjet 75 Liberty uses two Honeywell TFE731-40BR at 3,850 lbf, with the light-jet category's first forward-cabin Executive Suite and a pocket door that cuts cabin noise by eight decibels, launched in 2019 at $9.9 million versus $13.8 million for the original Learjet 75.
The HondaJet Elite II climbs at 4,100 ft/min with external dimensions of 42.62 x 39.76 x 14.90 ft.
Pilatus calls the PC-24 the world's first Super Versatile Jet, combining the practicality of a turboprop with the cabin size of a medium light jet and the performance of a light jet, able to land on and take-off from shorter runways than similar jets, new at $9,000,000.

The trap to avoid
Charter salespeople often upgrade you to a super-midsize like a Challenger 350 or Praetor 600 on the argument that "the cabin is more comfortable." On a 90-minute flight with four adults nobody is stretching out to nap. The extra $1,500 to $2,500 per hour buys you a wider seat you barely use, a longer walk to the seat, and a slower ground turn. Under 3 hours, the light jet is the right jet. Save the super-midsize for the day it is actually needed.
